As you know, no one saw the Scourge die in the War of the Hecatomb, all that is known is that the creatures of the Shadow are in an apparent torpor and that since then they have never undertaken a large-scale action. At the beginning of the war, after the withdrawal of the Sirulians, Tanarch was the first nation to feel his power and the people were subjugated. The soldiers of Sirulia and some fragments of the Tanarchian army successfully sought refuge in Wolhynia and there they fortified themselves while the Scourge’s armies were passing through the Scar. You all know how the war turned out, but what many of you do not know is that the wound that it left in Tanarch never completely healed, what’s worse is that it became infected over the years. Aewyre rolled his eyes. Allumno was capable of dramatising a bedside story. The vanquished people survived, but many of them passed over to the Shadow’s side during the occupation, both out of resentment against the Sirulians and out of simple fear of the Scourge’s power, and these feelings persisted even after his death. Many ignore these feelings or pretend not to know of their existence, perhaps out of fear, perhaps out of shame, perhaps because they find them harmless, but there are still some people who utter the name of the Anathema in the night, in the hope that He will return, those who long for the Shadow, the Sons of the Scourge...
