The Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua (Camões, I.P.) is launching an online course entitled Portuguese for Foreigners, level 1. This course is coordinated by Mónica Braz Pereira, Camões, I.P.
The course will be totally delivered online, using a course management system as well as other useful software (see requirements below).
The main objective of this course is to give an opportunity to all those who want to learn Portuguese to do it online. In terms of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR), it is expected that those taking part in it will achieve the A2 level.
The course is aimed at those who want to further their knowledge of the Portuguese language. It is expected that participants can: understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment); can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters; can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

The course will last for four months, beginning February 24.
The online course is structured around 14 weekly blocks; learners will spend 8 hours a week on it, as follows:

Materials and instructions for their use will be will be placed weekly on the learning platform. Oral interaction sessions will be scheduled on a weekly basis. Every other week there will be formative mini-tests to solve, allowing the learners to identify their difficulties and the tutor to better cater for learners' needs. English will be used initially as communication language.

There will be a 320 EUR fee. Payment will be made by bank transfer. We will send our bank account details to the selected participants.
The Camões, I.P. will be fully responsible for the selection of the candidates.
