Born in Faro. He was connected with the reviews Cadernos do Meio-Dia, Árvore and Cassiopeia. Translator, literary critic, essayist and poet. In addition to a great purity of language, he reflects on the poetic phenomenon.
In the equality of the torrent, a single tree,
words and stones gathering
a head to the rhythm of the waves,
and an oval shadow on the shoulders
slowly breathing the round air,
the reflexes in the branches, similar
to a breath, the rings of the day,
with neither end nor centre the unfinished arch
that over the sea, wandering, is permanence.
